Kingman Youth Advisory Council touts community projects; council recognizes seniors and proclaims Clerks Week

The Kingman Youth Advisory Council presented a year‑end update at Tuesday’s council meeting, highlighting twice‑monthly park cleanups at Centennial Park and the skate park, a coat and bedding drive in partnership with local high schools and community organizations, and ongoing work with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build and deliver beds for children in need.

Clementine Wilcox, the youth council chair, listed the council membership and described a mural project planned for the block wall along Mojave Wash near the library and Centennial Park; painting is slated to begin late summer to early fall pending resources and volunteer support. Wilcox described outreach to local artists and community fundraising to transform the wall into a community mural.

Council and staff thanked the youth council and presented recognition plaques to graduating members. The mayor then read a proclamation declaring the week of May 2026 as Professional Municipal Clerks Week and recognized City Clerk Annie Meredith and Deputy City Clerk Tanya Ferguson for recordkeeping and public‑service roles; staff showed a short video overview of clerk functions and historic minutes preservation.

Council members praised the youth volunteers’ service and encouraged residents to apply for openings on the youth council. The mural project and youth activities were welcomed as community engagement and service learning for high school students.
