Ada County clerk reports early turnout and details ballot‑on‑demand and security measures

Ada County Clerk Frank Treckle briefed the Board of Commissioners on election activity and security measures ahead of upcoming deadlines.

Treckle said the elections office had "issued 16,350 absentee ballots" and had about "3,500 of those have been returned." He reported 992 in‑person early votes cast the previous day and read a breakdown by party: "Of those 992, 713 were Republican, 160 Democrat, and 100 unaffiliated." Treckle said the county had expanded early voting locations to include new sites in Meridian.

On security, Treckle described ballot‑on‑demand printing (printing ballots as voters request them) as a cost‑saving and accuracy measure and said the county has "59 live streaming cameras" in the elections warehouse and a dual‑custody process for all ballots. He emphasized that the paper ballot is the official record and explained that the ballot image viewer (ballot verifier) is posted after the county canvas but before contest periods expire so residents can review images and, if needed, request a recount.

Commissioners thanked Treckle and staff for the work on election processes and ballot security.
