The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen on April 27 approved a $311,088 contract to replace an 8-inch ductile-iron water main on West Street, a project town engineer Dale Perryman said will be paid with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Perryman told the board the work will extend roughly 863 feet, add three new fire hydrants, replace water services and patch the roadway, and that the town is eligible to receive CDBG funds awarded through Shelby County.
Perryman said the town previously accepted a CDBG grant of $240,000 and that an amendment approved earlier in the meeting brought the total available grant funding for this project to $320,000. "CDBG grant would be paying for the entire project," Perryman said. He reported four qualified bids and noted the lowest responsive bidder submitted $311,088; the contract is structured as a unit-price job with 60 days to complete and liquidated damages of $500 per day.
Board members asked no substantive questions; after a motion and second the contract passed on a roll call vote with all members present voting yes. Perryman said any remaining funds after project completion will be returned to the appropriate account. The board approved the contract and authorized staff to proceed with procurement and construction coordination.
