Councilmember: Denver welcome as DNC site-selection committee visits ahead of 2028 bid

Councilmember Chris Heinz told the mayor and fellow council members that the Democratic National Convention Site Selection Committee had arrived in Denver for a tour of the city center and that Denver is prepared to host the convention in August 2028.

"I'm really excited to, to have conversations with them, talk about how wonderful, the city of Denver is, and how ready we are to, to host the DNC in August 2028," Heinz said, noting visitors were arriving on regional transit via the A Line. He thanked colleagues for supporting outreach to the delegation and added a lighthearted comment about the city's weather as part of his pitch.

The remarks were made during the meeting's announcements portion; no formal council action or vote on convention hosting was recorded at the session. The council did not provide a formal endorsement or specific next steps during the public meeting.

Still, Heinz's comments signal active local engagement with the DNC site's visit and an effort to highlight Denver's assets to site-selection delegates.
