LaSalle County committee approves reappointments to fire district and housing authority

The LaSalle County Committee on Appointments, Legislation and Rules approved two reappointment resolutions during its May 4 meeting.

Chair Don Jensen moved to reappoint Alex Marshall as a trustee of the Samanak Community Fire Protection District for a three-year term beginning May 1, 2026, and expiring April 30, 2029. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.

The committee also approved a resolution reappointing Robert Jakubchak to the LaSalle County Housing Authority Board of Commissioners for a five-year term beginning July 1, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2031. That motion was likewise seconded and carried by voice vote.

Both resolutions were presented as standard reappointments; the committee recorded the motions and approved them without extended debate. The committee did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript; approvals were announced by voice as "aye" and each motion was followed by the chair’s statement that the motion carried.

The committee also handled routine business—including approval of previous meeting minutes—before moving into a longer discussion about clarifying board rules on hiring and remote attendance. The reappointments will be forwarded to the full county board as part of regular committee reporting.
