Sustainability Commission approves ad hoc committee to recruit student ex officio members

The Glendale Sustainability Commission voted to form an ad hoc recruitment committee to screen and recommend candidates for two student ex officio positions.

Staff explained the committee will include one voting commissioner and two ex officio members who will review applications, conduct interviews and present recommended candidates to the full commission; the student terms begin August 1. Chair Kerian asked for nominations; a commissioner volunteered to serve, and the motion to approve the selection committee was moved and seconded. The motion passed by roll call, with commissioners recording affirmative votes.

Why it matters: Student ex officio members provide a youth perspective on sustainability work and enable the commission to engage students directly in CAP implementation and outreach.
