The CPC voted on May 1 to amend warrant Article 34 to transfer $40,000 from undesignated reserves to cover a shortfall for repairs to the Mitchell House roof walk, the committee chair said.
The chair told members the applicant exhausted FY26 funds while redoing the roof after the roof walk had to be moved and partly delifted for repairs; the chair said a February storm then blew half of the roof walk off, and the structure’s preservation easement requires the feature remain in place. “The preservation easement requires the roof walk to remain on this structure,” the chair said.
Committee members and finance staff reviewed potential internal sources but determined previously returned grant balances could not be reclaimed in time for the annual town meeting. The chair said the group consulted FinCom and the town council and proposed a technical amendment to Article 34 (FY2027) to transfer $40,000 from undesignated reserves to cover the supplemental funding for the Mitchell House roof repairs grant.
A member moved to approve the chair’s recommended amendment “as presented,” the motion was seconded, and the committee voted in favor by voice vote. The committee chair instructed staff to notify the applicants that the committee had approved the transfer so they could proceed with repairs.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn and members offering thanks to Tom for his service on the committee.
