Archbold Village Council approves sewer and paving contracts and renews four farmland parcels

Archbold Village Council on April 20 approved three emergency resolutions, awarding contracts for sewer and street work and renewing four parcels’ farmland designation.

The council accepted S&S Directional Boring Ltd.’s low bid for Contract 2-2026 (Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Phase I) by passage of Resolution 2026‑17 after the council suspended the rule requiring three readings. Kevin Eicher moved to pass the resolution; Karla Ball seconded. The roll call recorded all members voting in favor.

Council also approved Resolution 2026‑18, awarding Contract 3‑2026 for miscellaneous street resurfacing to Gerken Paving Inc. Following a brief discussion, the council suspended the three-readings rule and passed the measure; Kevin Eicher moved and Mike Evans seconded, with a unanimous roll call.

During regular business the council approved bills and payroll totaling $721,259.91. Karla Ball moved to approve the list of bills and payroll; Chad Kern seconded and the roll call carried.

Finally, the council completed a public‑hearing requirement and passed Resolution 2026‑19 to renew the agricultural‑district designation for four parcels. The council suspended the three‑reading rule for the resolution and voted unanimously to adopt it.

All three resolutions were adopted as emergency measures, allowing the village to begin contract work and related implementation steps pending administrative follow‑up. The council recorded no nays on the measures and one abstention (Karla Ball) on the April 6 minutes vote earlier in the meeting. The meeting adjourned after routine updates and local announcements.
