The Parks and Recreation Board handled a cluster of community events and program approvals at its May 4 meeting.
Floatfest: Staff provided information about an application from Lemhaas Productions for Floatfest, scheduled June 27 from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Staff said they are still awaiting required materials (fees, certificate of liability, alcohol permit, security plan) and will return the item next month; the item was for information only.
Center for Healing and Hope: The board approved a special event application for a community run and walk on May 9 from 3–5 p.m. using the Mill Race Canal Trail with staging at Center for Healing and Hope.
Lippert Plant 50: The board approved a health and fitness day application from Lippert Plant 50 to use Chichester Pavilion and the walking trail; staff noted participants will carpool and no vendors are planned.
Bethany Christian requested permission for a temporary story-walk using yard signs along the trail behind the school for end-of-school festivities; the board granted permission for a few days.
Goshen Public Library requested 50–100 annual boat rental passes for its summer reading program; the board approved providing 100 boat passes for Fiddler's Pond. Staff also requested approval to issue complimentary boat rentals to volunteer coaches and program volunteers (rough estimates: ~30 for basketball coaches, similar ranges for soccer and up to 40 volunteers for spring recitals); the board approved complimentary rentals to recognize volunteers.
All votes on applications and passes were unanimous.
