The Tunica County Board of Supervisors on May 4 approved several financial and program items including an MDA capital improvement promissory note for $1,250,000, a $300,000 Delta workforce grant submission, a memorandum of understanding for renewable energy training, and task orders for redevelopment of Tunica River Park.
Dr. Willis (speaker 4) presented item H-1 authorizing the board president to sign an MDA capital improvement promissory note in the amount of $1,250,000; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Dr. Willis also asked the board to "prepare and submit the 20 26 Delta Works Force Grama" through Adlix Community Studios, describing the total amount as "$300,000 with a 90%, 10% match," which the board authorized.
The board approved a memorandum of understanding among Tunica County, the workforce development center and Tunica County Schools to host Retrain America's renewable energy training (solar panels, wind farm and related skills) at the county workforce center. Board members clarified that the program is part of a Department of Labor grant, the training is hosted at the workforce center, and enrollment was reported at about 12 students.
For parks and capital projects, the board approved task order #7 with Neil Shaffer for engineering services on the Tunica River Park Nature Trail and approved task order #8 for Riverpark Dock technical assistance not to exceed $10,000.
All items were taken and approved as consent or by motion during the meeting; staff will proceed with executing contracts and preparing documentation.
