County renews bridge contract, approves bridge work and reissues ferry lease

The board recorded several infrastructure actions in 1908: it renewed the steel-bridge contract with Standard Bridge Company of Omaha at the 1907 price, approved payments for bridge lumber and road work, and acted to reissue a ferry lease.

Minutes for early January and July record payments to contractors and the renewal of the bridge contract for 1908 at the same prices as 1907. The board allowed bills for bridge lumber and directed the county auditor to draw warrants for insurance and other bridge-related payments.

On motion the board voted that a new ferry lease be prepared to cover the unexpired portion of an existing lease and instructed the county attorney to draw the lease in a form to expire July 17, 1912; the motion references H. M. Barroll as the lessee tied to prior lease arrangements.

These actions appear as routine contract renewals and authorizations of vendor payments in the commissioners’ minutes and do not contain additional records of competitive-bid awards beyond the stated renewals and authorizations.
