Pocomoke City awards $523,335.97 street-repair contract to Mike Hauck Construction

GMB staff summarized the three bids opened April 28 and recommended awarding the Pocomoke City street improvement contract to Mike Hauck Construction, the low bidder at $523,335.97. John Hennishman said references (including the City of Fruitland) were checked and returned favorable feedback; he recommended awarding the contract to the low bidder. "Mike Hauck Construction was the low bidder at $523,335.97," he said.

Council members pressed GMB on the contract timeline, enforcement and resident notification. The mayor emphasized the need for clear advance notice to affected addresses and asked that door hangers be used at least 72 hours before road closures; Hennishman confirmed contractors are required to meet contract timeframes and that liquidated damages may be applied for missing substantial or final completion dates. Council approved the contract award by voice vote after a motion and second.

The award moves the street improvement project into scheduling and pre-construction coordination; council asked staff to provide residents a notice plan and to confirm start dates once the notice to proceed is issued to the contractor.
