Yanceyville water and wastewater plants report no April excursions but wiring fault forces manual operation

Inframark regional manager Gregory Ryland updated the council on the town’s water and wastewater operations May 3, reporting no regulatory excursions for April and that quarterly toxicity testing at the wastewater plant passed.

Ryland said crews flushed dead ends and worked on maintenance including new electrical wiring for flocculators and replacement of two mixer motors. He reported installation of a new influent valve actuator for SBR #1; when the electrical subcontractor removed the old actuator, a short caused a circuit breaker failure and the plant’s control center faulted. "The plant has been operated by manual control only," Ryland said, and the system must remain in manual mode until repairs are complete.

Ryland added the EQ basin and chlorine contact chambers are clean, mixers were reinstalled, and SBR Basin #2 is being cleaned and returned to service. He described the steps taken to restore automatic functions, including replacing the circuit breaker and repairing wiring.

Council received the update; no regulatory actions or fines were announced during the meeting.
