Committee approves two maintenance contracts for generators and fire systems

The Finance & Administrative Committee approved two separate procurement items on April 30. The committee authorized a two‑year agreement (with renewal options) with Altor Power Systems of Addison, Ill., to provide generator inspection and maintenance at primary county facilities for an estimated $32,338 and separately approved a two‑year agreement with Johnson Controls of Milwaukee, Wis., for annual inspection, testing and certification of fire alarm and sprinkler systems at Lake County facilities (estimated $193,141).

Carl Corrard, director of facilities and construction services, told the committee that the Altor contract covers OEM service for Caterpillar generators at the Admin Tower, Courts Complex, Lake County Jail, the Court Tower and the Central Permit Facility; other generator brands (Kohler, Rolls‑Royce) remain on separate contracts. Corrard explained Johnson Controls will perform required annual fire code inspections for alarm and detection systems. Members asked clarifying questions about cooperative purchasing and service intervals before both items passed on committee votes.
