Committee recommends renewals for two Special Improvement District maintenance programs

The Las Vegas recommending committee on May 4 recommended approval of two Special Improvement District maintenance items and will forward both to City Council for adoption on May 20, 2026.

Engineering Project Manager Lalo Mallamu presented Special Improvement District 1485 (Alta Drive Landscape Maintenance). Mallamu said SID 1485 covers 37 properties along Alta Drive between Rancho Drive and about 275 feet west of Lacey Lane in Ward 1 for the fiscal period July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. He reported the annual assessment for the district totals $118,050 and is paid by the property owners; staff recommended approval.

Mallamu also presented Special Improvement District 1516 (Fremont East Entertainment District), describing the district as 32 parcels bounded by Las Vegas Boulevard (west), Ogden Avenue (north), Carson Avenue (south) and 8th Street (east), in Ward 3. For fiscal year 2026–27 the district covers landscape maintenance, street cleaning, public utilities, promotional events and marketing. Mallamu said there will be no assessment this year because sufficient reserves are expected to cover expenses; the SID remains paid by property owners and staff recommended approval.

Both items drew no public comment and were moved, voted and passed by the committee during the meeting. The items will be considered for adoption at the City Council meeting on May 20, 2026.
