The St. Martin Parish Council voted April 7 to award the contract for the new Parks branch library to apparent low bidder Chart Construction, LLC, in the amount of $998,744, following a recommendation from Angelle Architects. The Council authorized the Parish President and the designee of the Library Board of Control to execute contract documents.
In personnel actions, the council appointed Mr. Brandon Miller to fill the unexpired term of Kirk Taylor on the St. Martin Parish Planning Commission representing District 8 (term expires June 14, 2026), and Mr. Christopher Hollier to fill the unexpired term of Jonathan Gregory representing District 7 (term expires April 3, 2028). Both appointments were adopted unanimously.
The Council also accepted a donation from the St. Martin Parish Library Board of Control of two computers to be housed at the Cade Community Center for outreach; Cajun Broadband agreed to provide internet service for the machines at no cost. The Parish President was authorized to accept the donation and enter into an intergovernmental agreement to implement the arrangement.
Council members thanked library leadership for the project and noted the Cade Community Center resource improvements. The items passed by unanimous vote; minutes record no public opposition.
