The Delaware County Board of Commissioners on Monday approved, pending final location agreement, a request from the public defender’s office to place a storage container at the justice center.
Shelly Harvey, the public defender office administrator, said the office currently rents an offsite unit for documents and is paying about $193 per month. She told commissioners a storage container delivered to the justice center would cost under $2,500 and that supplemental office funds would cover the purchase so the county general fund would not be charged.
Commissioners asked that the container be placed near an existing clerk’s office container or another location that would not interfere with groundskeeping; staff said they would coordinate placement with the building superintendent. The motion to approve was conditioned on the building superintendent’s location agreement.
Next steps: the public defender’s office will coordinate with the building superintendent to finalize the location and notify commissioners when placement is scheduled.
