Rock Valley council approves vehicles, licenses, personnel actions and routine bills in June meetings

The Rock Valley City Council took a number of routine but material actions across meetings in June 2024, approving equipment purchases, licenses, personnel items, and bills.

On June 26 the council approved the purchase of a service vehicle from Hi-Way Chevrolet for an amount not to exceed $43,515 and approved an invoice from Mosquito Control of Iowa for $10,455. The council also approved a motion to purchase a service truck from Hi-Way Chevrolet (added to the agenda) and approved a vehicle purchase for the City Crew. Council member Faber introduced Resolution No. 939-24 to enter into a rental agreement with the Rock Valley Hay Auction; the council adopted the resolution contingent on approval by City Attorney Cleveringa.

At the June 20 meeting the council approved a Class C retail alcohol license renewal for Parkview Event Center and granted a Special Class C Retail alcohol license for Slush Up & Drink LLC. The council approved the May council meeting minutes, the April Clerk's Report, and the Rock Valley Ambulance Service, Fire Department, Municipal Housing Authority and City bills as presented.

At the June 6 meeting the council approved the city bills presented but specifically held a Rock Valley Plumbing & Heating invoice for further review.

Several motions were recorded as unanimous approvals in the minutes; the transcript records roll-call ayes for resolutions where noted. Where the transcript records no vote detail the minutes reflect that motions carried by majority vote or unanimous consent.
