Steuben County approves 10‑year tax abatement for Miller Poultry expansion

Steuben County Council approved a multi‑part package on May 12 to support an expansion at Pine Manor, Inc., doing business as Miller Poultry.

Company representatives Kevin Diehl and Karen Brenneman submitted a CF‑1/PP compliance statement; the council authorized President Shipe to sign the document. The council then considered a 10‑year tax abatement under an SB‑1 application covering estimated new or improved real property of $9,000,000 and new tangible personal property of $4,150,000. The abatement schedules were described in the resolution text as phased deductions over ten years with specified percentage schedules for real and personal property.

Ruth Beer moved to approve the SB‑1 Real & Personal Property Abatement for Pine Manor (Miller Poultry); Jim Getz seconded and the motion carried with seven (7) ayes. The council subsequently adopted Resolution No. 05‑2015‑03, finding the projected jobs and salaries reasonable, that the project will increase the tax base, and conditioning the deduction on annual compliance forms from the taxpayer.
