Council awards CDBG street reconstruction contract to M & J Excavation for $595,059

City staff presented a low, responsible bid from M & J Excavation of $595,059 to repave seven streets under a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)-funded reconstruction project. Staff said the work includes Center Street, parts of Memorial Avenue, Walnut Street, Elmira Street, Park Avenue to Kramer Court, West 3rd Street and downtown 4th Street from Mulberry to Hepburn (skipping Market Street, which is PennDOT). The administration said combined with liquid fuels and other paving funds, the city expects the total paving program to exceed $1 million.

Council members asked about which streets and funding sources were involved; staff noted a separate liquid-fuels paving contract will come soon. The council approved the award unanimously, 6-0.
