The Granite Falls City Council voted 4–1 Feb. 7 to enter into a purchase-and-sale agreement for a parcel north of Gun Club Road adjacent to 20031 Gun Club Rd., authorizing City Manager Brent Kirk to sign the agreement for $350,000.
Councilmember Bruce Straughn moved approval of the purchase-and-sale agreement; Councilmember David Griggs seconded the motion. The motion carried 4–1, with Mayor Matthew Hartman recorded as opposing. The action followed two recesses into executive session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(b) for discussion of real-estate acquisition, the council said.
The council first recessed into executive session at 7:44 p.m. for 15 minutes and returned to open session at 7:59 p.m.; it recessed again at 8:02 p.m. for an additional five minutes and reconvened at 8:07 p.m., Deputy City Manager Jeff Balentine announced. The purchase-and-sale agreement covers the property described as being on the north side of Gun Club Road, adjacent to the Fire District land and near 20031 Gun Club Rd.; the agreement’s terms and conditions were not further detailed in the public record at the meeting.
Mayor Hartman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and adjourned the meeting after the vote. No further procedural steps or implementation dates were specified during the session.
Authorities cited at the meeting included RCW 42.30.110(1)(b), the state statute permitting executive sessions to consider the acquisition of real estate when public knowledge would likely increase the price.
