During the Feb. 3 Pacific City Council workshop, Mayor Kave told the council that staff is actively looking for alternative ways to collect revenues and that the findings will be brought forward at the council retreat on Feb. 13, 2025. The statement was made during the "Good of the Order" portion of the workshop.
Mayor Kave also noted the King County Citizens' Elections Oversight Committee is open for members to join; Council Member Petersen said he is interested. Mayor Kave reminded newly elected officials about the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Elected Officials Essentials Forum scheduled for Feb. 27–28.
Separately, Council Member Petersen recognized an Algona police officer who, according to the minutes, performed a selfless act to save a woman whose car had overturned in a ditch filled with mud and water. The minutes do not identify the officer by name.
What comes next: Staff is expected to present potential revenue alternatives at the Feb. 13 retreat for council review. The Feb. 10 meeting agenda will document any formal actions related to items that were forwarded from the workshop.
