County engineers schedule bids for three bridge replacements; fracture‑critical inspection changes may raise costs

Lance Harter of Oak Creek Engineering told the Furnas County Board of Commissioners on April 28 that the county plans to advertise for bids on three structure replacement projects — C33(231), C‑33(235) and C33(211) — with bid openings scheduled for the board’s May 26 meeting.

Harter said the projects will be advertised next week and outlined the timeline: advertisement, bid opening at the May 26 board meeting and subsequent award and contracting steps. The minutes record that Harter also discussed recent changes to Bridge Fracture Critical Inspection requirements and warned those changes will add expense for the county; the minutes do not include a dollar estimate.
