North Bend names Ed Hall chief as city moves police services to King County partnership

Mayor Mary Miller told attendees that in April North Bend’s contract with the City of Snoqualmie ended and the city has entered a new arrangement with the King County Sheriff’s Office for police services. She introduced Ed Hall as the city’s chosen police chief and invited him to speak to the audience.

Ed Hall described his local background and law‑enforcement experience in Washington State, said he is humbled to serve North Bend and emphasized community engagement and a positive workplace culture. On training and inclusion, Hall said the King County Sheriff’s Office provides continuing education and diversity, equity and inclusion training, including trauma‑informed approaches. “Our doors are open,” Hall said, describing an open‑door policy for residents to bring concerns to the department.

The remarks were an announcement of personnel and the services partnership; the session recorded no formal vote or ordinance. City officials said the change followed almost two years of preparation, community input and interview panels involving council, staff and community representatives.
