South River Board adopts 2026–27 budget after unanimous roll-call vote

On April 30, 2026, the South River Board of Education approved its 2026–27 school budget after a roll-call vote, following a motion from the finance committee and a second from Vice President Nielsen.

The finance chair moved that the board adopt the budget “in accordance with NJSA 18A:7F-5 and 18A:7F-6,” and the motion passed on a roll call with the members present recorded as voting yes. The board secretary recorded the votes and declared the motion carried.

Dr. Zircher also used her report earlier in the meeting to highlight district initiatives that the budget supports, including the new turf field now in regular use for physical education and recess, an "operation laptop drop" program that redistributes retired Chromebooks to families in need, and upcoming events such as a curriculum fair on May 22.

The board opened a short public-comment period specifically for the budget; no members of the public addressed the board during that call. The budget adoption followed routine committee review and the finance committee's recommendation.

The board did not provide a detailed line-item breakdown during the public meeting; the budget presentation and narrated summary will be posted on the district website for residents to review.
