Knox County commissioners approve energy aggregation filings, contractor agreements and multiple utility permits

At their April 30 meeting the Knox County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of consent items by voice vote, including filings related to electric and natural gas aggregation, a contractor agreement for the OhioMeansJobs summer youth coach program, an MOU between Job & Family Services and the Chamber of Commerce, and multiple utility permits and broadband‑related permits across townships.

Staff said the aggregation filings with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) are initial steps in a process that could allow Mount Vernon and Fredericktown to join an aggregate purchasing program; the county’s non‑incorporated areas had rejected countywide aggregation in past votes and the filings are being prepared so interested villages or municipalities can move forward.

The board approved the contractor agreement between the Knox County Department of Job and Family Services and Rachel Boggs for the OhioMeansJobs summer youth coach program and signed a no‑cost MOU with the Chamber of Commerce to collaborate on workforce gaps identified by the chamber. Commissioners then approved a series of utility permits (Brightspeed, Mercury Broadband and others) in Clay, Brown, Howard, Clinton and Monroe townships; each item was moved and approved by voice vote with commissioners responding "aye."

The meeting record did not include roll‑call vote tallies or the names of all motion makers and seconders for each consent item; the items were passed as part of routine business.
