Seaford schools propose 2.26% tax levy to fund repairs and preserve programs

The Seaford Union Free School District presented a proposed budget in a district video that sets the tax levy at 2.26% and the year-to-year budget increase at 1.42%, the presenter said. "This year's tax levy is set at 2.26%, the lowest in the past 5 years," the presenter stated, and added that the plan keeps spending growth modest while funding campus improvements.

The presenter framed the proposal as preserving core services: "We are proud that this plan preserves and strengthens our academic, athletic, and extracurricular programs while maintaining fiscal responsibility." District officials said the proposal seeks to protect classroom and extracurricular offerings without dramatic tax increases.

Beyond operating costs, the presenter said the budget allocates money for targeted capital projects across district campuses. Speaking from the newly refurbished middle-school gym, the presenter said the budget will fund installation of new windows to complete the gym restoration and listed other projects, including "new boys and girls bathrooms here at the middle school, as well as a hallway egress leading to the new high school courtyard learning space scheduled for construction this summer."
