Pacific workshop: police evidence-room remodel funded; parks, IT updates and council vacancy announced

City staff used the Aug. 25 workshop to report on several operational items.

Police: Workshop minutes state that funding for a remodel of the police evidence room has been approved and that the department plans to start the project in October. The minutes attribute the update to police staff; a named speaker in the meeting roster is Police Chief Robert Hendrickson.

Parks & Recreation: The department reported 214 senior participants and a total of 1,740 participants at the senior and youth center for July. Parks staff said they will update the department newsletter with a new format and that a country-western band will perform at Music in the Park on Aug. 28 from 6:30–8:00 p.m.

Information Technology: IT reported it is continuing the Microsoft 365 rollout and that Valley Comm will use a new cloud-based authentication software alongside the 365 install.

Good of the order: Mayor Kave announced the open council seat has been filled by candidate Stacey Jackson, who is running unopposed, and said he will be out in September and not attend the Sept. 22 meeting.

The workshop minutes do not record public comment related to these items or detailed budget amounts for the police remodel or IT procurement; departments are expected to present more detail at regular council meetings as needed.
