Residents ask for Deerpath shooting update and improvements to park access and parking enforcement

During the public-comment portion of the March 13 meeting, residents asked for updates on several local matters and requested municipal attention to access and enforcement issues.

Residents requested an update on a shooting incident on Deerpath Drive; Mayor Dominic Marturano said the investigation is in progress. A resident who also serves as Lakes Commissioner asked the board to pursue state grants to fund parks-and-recreation improvements, specifically to improve the entrance to Waterford Lake, and requested snow removal on a path on Grass Lake/Beck Road to ensure access to Hastings Lake Forest Preserve. Another resident described difficulties homeowners face parking multiple vehicles at single residences and noted that police officers are constrained by resources to enforce the Village parking ordinance.
