Chairman Missel and the Dodge County Board of Supervisors recessed to meet as the Board of Corrections on May 15. Supervisor Beam reported that Dodge and Saunders County officials, including sheriffs and judicial staff, met last Friday to discuss operations at Saunders County Corrections and ways to improve them.
Supervisor Beam told the Board that “the contract for Saunders County to house Dodge County inmates renews effective July 1, 2024 and a 2% rate increase for housing the inmates is included with this renewal.” Board members described the meeting as an open dialogue involving multiple stakeholders.
The Board adjourned its Board of Corrections session and will reconvene to consider any follow-up at the next corrections meeting on May 29, 2024. No formal motion to change housing arrangements or to seek other providers was recorded in the minutes; the renewal and rate change were presented as part of ongoing intercounty coordination.
