The Dodge County Board of Supervisors on May 29 approved routine claims, selected an outside auditor for a three-year engagement and set a public hearing on a proposed street vacation in Ames.
The Board unanimously approved wage and hour claims totaling $290,660.68 and financial claims totaling $924,497.62. It also approved a three-year audit services contract with Erickson & Brooks, CPAs, covering audits for fiscal years ending June 30, 2024 through 2026. Supervisor Bendig told the board he recommended the contract citing a limited pool of firms that will perform government audits, Erickson & Brooks’ hands-on approach, and that the County Purchasing Act does not require competitive bidding for professional services. The Board authorized the necessary signatures on the contract.
The Board received a $4,000 funding request from Keep Fremont Beautiful for an October household hazardous waste collection event and unanimously referred the request to the finance committee for further consideration.
Separately, the Board adopted a resolution setting a public hearing for June 26 at 10:15 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors room to consider Taylor Farms’ request to vacate a street in Ames. Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert was authorized to present study findings related to other road-vacation requests at the June 12 meeting.
The meeting was held at the Dodge County Courthouse in Fremont. The Board recessed for its Board of Corrections and Board of Equalization duties during the morning and will reconvene for regular business on June 12.
