The Oklahoma County Board of County Commissioners voted to add a full-time administrative coordinator to the commissioners' fund for FY27 with an amount not to exceed $70,000.
Staff told the board the $70,000 represents a base figure that includes $50,000 for salary, $9,400 for benefits, $5,000 for travel and $5,400 for miscellaneous items such as parking and cell phones. County manager Jessica (S5) described current workload pressures and said an existing staff member, Tracy, has supported operations; the new position would be posted following standard HR practices.
Commissioners debated timing amid budget constraints but several argued the institutional knowledge and compliance expertise (including ARPA compliance and grant management) made the position necessary for continuity. The board approved the item by voice vote.
If implemented, the county manager's office said it would follow HR posting procedures and consider indirect grant-cost offsets where allowable.
The board recorded the motion and approved the change; staff will post the position and proceed with recruitment.
