Sorensen vs. Timpanogos Academy hearing continued after school agrees to produce records

A DGO hearing on an appeal by Sorensen against Timpanogos Academy was continued after the academy indicated it may provide the disputed records.

Counsel for the requester, Mister Gadd, told the director that Timpanogos Academy had contacted him and signaled it might be willing to produce the records, and asked the director to postpone the hearing to allow the parties to resolve the matter. Miss Hooley, counsel for Timpanogos Academy, said she had not been given notice of some off-record outreach until the morning of the hearing, asked that opposing counsel direct communications to counsel rather than to clients, and confirmed the academy would cooperate on a continuance.

Director Lonnie Pearson agreed the matter could be postponed to allow the parties to negotiate production and told staff to set a new agenda date; counsel discussed a roughly two-week continuance and acknowledged they would coordinate dates through the director's office. The director said the office will issue a new notice and agenda once a slot is available.
