Woodbury selectmen authorize MOU for Three Rivers Park, accept library donation and approve surplus trailer

WOODBURY, Conn. — The Woodbury Board of Selectmen on April 28 authorized a memorandum of understanding with the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition related to a grant award for Three Rivers Park and approved a series of routine items, the board said.

First Selectman Paul Zulpa moved to authorize the MOU with the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition, Inc.; Selectman Richard Coates seconded the motion. The board discussed the purpose of the grant and confirmed the town's $30,000 contribution had already been set aside and that town counsel had reviewed the MOU. The motion carried, recorded as 3-0.

The board also voted to accept with gratitude a $1,700 donation from The Friends of The Woodbury Public Library to purchase museum passes for the public. The motion was entered by Selectman Karen Reddington-Hughes and seconded by Mr. Zulpa; the motion carried 3-0. Separately, Mr. Zulpa reported $2,200 in fundraising to date for the South Green project and read a list of named donors and dollar amounts received for that project.

On surplus equipment, the board approved a motion to donate a military-style Humvee trailer to the American Legion for use in the town's Memorial Day Parade. The board discussed that the trailer was on hand at no cost to the town, that attorney review showed no obligation to return it to the government, and that auctioning it by sealed bid would incur legal-notice costs. The motion was moved by Mr. Zulpa and seconded by Ms. Reddington-Hughes; the motion carried 3-0.

Other routine business included approval of the minutes of the April 14 meeting (motion by Mr. Coates; second by Ms. Reddington-Hughes), and a first reading of the Public Works Snow Removal Policy. No roll-call breakdown of votes was recorded in the minutes; the actions above were recorded as carried 3-0.
