Two entrepreneurs pitch liquor licenses to South Barrington board for Arboretum location and event space

At its April 14 meeting in Village Hall, the South Barrington Village Board heard presentations from two local entrepreneurs seeking beer-and-wine liquor licenses.

Eric Eggersdorfer, owner of Master Axe, told the board he is pursuing a second location at The Arboretum of South Barrington and requested a license to serve beer and wine. He described safety measures for axe-throwing lanes, including additional fencing, and said he would not prepare food on site but would contract with nearby restaurants for delivery and catering. Eggersdorfer said participants as young as 10 would be permitted to use lanes and proposed hourly drink limits (for example, one hour = two drinks; two hours = three drinks). The board asked him to return with a formal food-service plan and agreement with a local restaurant, a written alcohol policy, and estimated gross sales projections that include alcohol before it will consider the license application further.

Also presenting was Deanna Naura of The Social Loft, a boutique event venue for private gatherings such as bridal showers, baby showers and corporate events. Naura requested a liquor license to allow alcohol at hosted events and said guests would be able to bring in food from local restaurants. The board thanked her for the presentation; no vote or formal action was recorded. Both applicants were told to supply additional documentation and will be placed on a future agenda for further consideration.

The public presentations took place during the public-comment portion of the agenda; no final determinations were made and the board proceeded to its other agenda items.
