The Village of Fox River Grove Board of Trustees voted Nov. 7 to make a 2023 property tax levy determination of $1,129,807. The motion, made by Trustee Steve Knar and seconded by Trustee Kirsten Wall, passed on a 5–0 roll-call vote after Trustee Melissa Schladt joined the meeting.
Administrator Soderholm told the board the Village may increase the levy up to an amount equal to last year’s consumer price index (CPI); the CPI for the 2023 levy was listed as 6.5%. The proposed levy represents a 5.97% increase over the previous year and, as presented, would raise property taxes on a home assessed at $250,000 by $24.85.
Trustee Knar said he supported adopting the full levy without offsets because of current village liabilities. Trustees Devin Hester, Andrew Migdal and Kirsten Wall also supported the levy as presented. Trustee Schladt said she supported the levy determination but asked staff to explore possible offsets before final adoption or implementation.
The minutes record that the board made the levy determination; the minutes do not specify further procedural steps or a final levy ordinance adoption date.
