Fox River Grove honors middle school girls' cross-country team for state runner-up finish

Village President Marc McLaughlin read a proclamation at the Nov. 7 meeting honoring the Fox River Grove Middle School girls' cross-country team for finishing second at the state championship and presented the players with copies of the resolution and a photo opportunity with the board.

Coach Green told the board the team practiced daily from June through the season, won the conference championship and sectionals, and finished second at the state meet. Trustee Steve Knar congratulated the team and said it was especially rewarding that a small school district had achieved high-level success.

The recognition was ceremonial; no vote or financial award is recorded in the minutes.
