Carly Hurley presented a description of a proposed community gathering and retail space at 6528 W. North Ave., telling the council she planned to operate retail sales of home goods and specialty grocery items and host events and workshops.
Hurley told the council she hoped to participate in local small-business networks and emphasized being a good neighbor. She also said the business would offer on-site beer and wine sales. The presiding officer opened the hearing for public testimony for and against the proposal; no members of the public spoke in favor or opposition in person or via Zoom.
After closing public comment, the presiding officer said the matter will go to the Plan Commission for evaluation and then return to the council for a final vote.
“I'm really excited to hopefully be a part of the Toast of Business community,” Hurley said, adding that she wanted to be a collaborator and good neighbor.
The Plan Commission will review the conditional use request and the council will consider its recommendation at a future meeting.
