The Wachusett Regional School District Committee voted to accept the annual evaluation of Superintendent Dr. Riley after the superintendent goals and evaluation subcommittee presented a summative rating. Member DuBois, chair of the subcommittee, read the report and said Dr. Riley earned an overall rating of “proficient” and an impact on student learning rated “high.”
The committee’s evaluation praised Dr. Riley’s instructional leadership, management and operations, budget development and improvements to administrative systems. DuBois said the report recognized a cultural shift in the district and singled out the district’s progress over the last two years.
“At this time, doctor Riley earned an overall rating of proficient and an impact on student learning of high,” Member DuBois said while reading the subcommittee’s findings. The subcommittee’s summary also noted that the administration should continue work on communication and transparency, and should seek broader stakeholder input and clarify the administration’s vision for ongoing improvements.
Superintendent Dr. Riley thanked the student representatives and committee members and acknowledged the staff and subcommittees who contributed to district work this year. “You were both remarkably committed and did an outstanding job keeping the committee informed,” Dr. Riley said when addressing the student representatives and the committee.
The committee moved to accept the annual evaluation and approved the motion by roll call. The committee’s acceptance formalizes the subcommittee’s recommendations and flags communication and stakeholder engagement as areas for focused action moving forward.
The committee did not adopt additional personnel actions during the vote; the evaluation acceptance documents are available in the public record.
