The Wachusett Regional School District Committee approved a recommended transfer of $583,146 from FY26 special education tuition funds to cover overages in instructional support, pupil services and other operating costs.
Member Brennan moved the transfer and said the business and finance subcommittee recommended the change following its April 16 meeting and at the recommendation of the business director. Brennan explained the balance remained because some students aged out of services, leaving tuition funds available to reallocate.
"This is something that Business and Finance discussed at our last meeting and voted to bring to the full school committee by the recommendation of Director Grise," Member Brennan said. "The money that is left in FY '26 special education tuitions is only because certain students aged out."
Under the approved motion, the committee applied $350,000 to instructional support, $65,000 to pupil services and $168,146 to other operating costs. The committee moved to a roll call vote and approved the transfer.
Chair noted that questions about financial statements should be directed to the business and finance subcommittee or the business director. The transfer addresses this fiscal year’s overages and reallocates remaining FY26 tuition funds as described.
