Poweshiek County Board approves Iowa DOT budget, awards $1.38 million 16th Avenue contract

The Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors on April 27 approved the Iowa Department of Transportation budget and the county's five-year construction plan and voted to award the 16th Avenue, Grinnell, project to contractor Inroads for $1,379,504.38.

Engineer Lyle Brehm presented the DOT budget, the county's five-year construction plan and details of the 16th Avenue project to the board. Supervisor Jacki Bolen moved to approve the Iowa DOT budget and the county five-year construction plan; Supervisor Jeff Tindle seconded the motion and it passed on a 3-0 vote.

For the 16th Avenue, Grinnell, project (Project FM-CO79(69)—55-79), Supervisor Jeff Tindle moved to award the contract to Inroads for $1,379,504.38; Supervisor Jacki Bolen seconded. The board approved the award by a 3-0 vote and directed Poweshiek County Auditor Melissa Eilander to sign the contract documents on the county's behalf when those documents are returned by the contractor.

The board also took routine procedural actions at the start of the meeting, approving the meeting agenda (moved by Bolen, seconded by Tindle) and the minutes from the April 23, 2026 meeting (moved by Tindle, seconded by Bolen). Jason Roudabush presided as chairman during the session. The board adjourned at 11:01 a.m.

Next steps: the contract award will become operational once the signed contract is on file with the county auditor as directed by the board.
