Board hears timeline for greenway procurement; Parks asks residents to report Peddle Parkway hazards

A resident asked what happened to a long-promised greenway redesign; Diana Finch, a Community Board 11 member, said the project experienced a standard delay between detailed design and procurement and that procurement only recently began.

"They just started the procurement this month, and it's set to finish, will take about a year, so finish in April 2027. So the actual construction will probably start May 2027," Diana Finch said, and she pointed stakeholders to the New York City Parks Department capital-project tracker for status updates.

Separately, committee cochair Debbie Clark described hazardous conditions on the paved Peddle Parkway path—mud, sludge and loose gravel at several hot spots that make walking and cycling unsafe. A Parks representative said paved-path repairs are handled by the Parks work-order system and asked the board to email precise locations so staff can submit repair requests.

The Parks representative noted that whether a path is an official paved route (work-order eligible) or an informal desire line affects what the agency can do. Board members agreed to raise path concerns at a planned site walk-through and to provide photo documentation to Parks so staff can triage repairs.

No formal action was taken because the committee lacked quorum; Parks staff said they would follow up on repair requests and that capital-tracker entries will show procurement and phase changes.
