Heather Crivello introduces herself as nursing board nominee, supports nurse licensure compact

Heather Crivello, a registered nurse practicing in Kodiak, appeared remotely as the governor’s nominee to the Alaska Board of Nursing. Crivello said she has been an Alaska resident for 27 years and would approach the role "thoughtfully, impartially, and with respect for the board's statutory responsibilities." She told the committee she supports the nurse licensure compact in principle to improve staffing in rural communities, and confirmed she would express her professional opinion independently of her employer if confirmed.

Committee members asked about likely issues the board will face during her term; Crivello said the compact is among the topics she expects to address. No formal committee vote on the appointment occurred during the April 29 meeting; the board of pharmacy nominee was not present.
