Belton Public Works earns APWA reaccreditation; department credited with 100% compliance

Bill Stodgill, regional director for the American Public Works Association, presented a plaque to the City of Belton recognizing the Public Works Department’s fourth accreditation, saying a review team from California and Washington examined 132 practices and found full compliance.

"I'm proud to report that the department achieved 100% full compliance with all applicable practices," Stodgill told the council, noting that fewer than 1% of North American public works agencies are accredited. The presentation acknowledged director Greg and accreditation manager Ryan Vaughn for leading the department’s multi-year work to document policies, procedures and practices.

Public Works Director Greg noted the accreditation reflected a team effort and months of preparing documentation, updating procedures and training staff. City leaders congratulated the department; a plaque was presented on behalf of the APWA evaluators.

The recognition indicates the department’s commitment to continuous improvement; no policy changes were enacted at the meeting as a result of the accreditation.
