Little Rock to put up $400,000 city match for proposed DOT shared‑use path

Vice Mayor Warrick asked staff about item 1, saying she thought the highway department would fund the resurfacing. City staff explained that as part of an ARDOT resurfacing plan, residents requested a two-way left-turn lane and that bike lanes would be affected. To address bicyclist needs, the city requested a shared-use path and sought a TAP (Transportation Alternatives Program) grant partnership with the state DOT.

Staff said the $400,000 is the city’s 20% match (an 80/20 funding split) and that the funds will come from the city’s street funds rather than the Award 7 project. Staff said the city will bring a resolution in the next few weeks to allow formal partnership with the DOT.

"It's coming from our street funds," staff said when asked where the $400,000 would be sourced. The board was told to expect a partnering resolution soon.
