Board awards $74,850 contract to replace 45 nonfunctioning streetlights in Centennial Park

Cascade Charter Township approved a contract award and budget amendment to replace nonfunctioning streetlights in Centennial Park.

Staff reported 115 streetlights in the park area, with 45 currently nonfunctioning. The township solicited bids and received five proposals; most proposed the Luminaire universe 2 series that matches existing fixtures and one bidder proposed a retrofit kit alternative that would replace internal components rather than entire fixtures. Staff recommended using the retrofit kit alternative where feasible because it carries the same manufacturer warranty and reduces cost.

The board approved a $74,850 contract award to Hilliard Electric to perform the work and approved an amendment to the fiscal 2026 budget to fund the contract from the DDA budget. Staff noted the retrofit approach should provide roughly 60,000 hours of life (about 15 years) from the new components.

Trustees thanked staff for cost-effective procurement and approved the contract by roll call.
