Finance staff brief board on federal grant compliance and Title I parent-engagement attachments

Mr. Lentz walked the committee through proposed updates to federal-fiscal-compliance policies, noting the single-audit threshold for federal awards has increased from $750,000 to $1,000,000 and that the updated policy text includes whistleblower protections and federal reporting requirements for grant recipients.

"These policies align us to the current federal requirements," Mr. Lentz said, noting the single-audit threshold and added compliance language. He also summarized documentation requirements for professional development tied to federal awards.

Dr. Horton described two forthcoming attachments to Policy 918: a district-level parent-and-family engagement policy and a school-level engagement policy that would make engagement practices (surveys, family nights, Title I meetings) more accessible and actionable. Staff will draft the attachments and return them to the committee for alignment with Policy 918.

Next steps: staff will prepare redlined policy text for committee review and draft the two attachments for Policy 918 ahead of the next meeting.
