DelVal board honors educators, student leaders and state‑champion athletic teams

The Delaware Valley Regional Board of Education opened its agenda with a series of recognitions, honoring educators and student leaders and reading formal resolutions that will be entered into the meeting minutes to recognize athletic accomplishments.

Administrators named the district’s Educator of the Year and Senior Educator of the Year, citing broad-based nominations and describing classroom leadership and a growth-mindset approach to instruction. “Doctor Beau was nominated 11 times with representation from students, staff, parents, and administrators,” a presenter said while reading the citation.

The board recognized multiple students: Meredith Lee (Student of the Month) for leading a recent food drive, Gail (performing arts student of the month) for leadership in theater productions, and several athletes including the track and lacrosse athletes of the month. Athletic Director Lace Jacobs summarized a historic winter sports season: the boys’ basketball program won its first Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex county championship in school history, and wrestling completed an undefeated 24–0 season and captured the NJSIAA Group 1 state championship.

Coaches provided season context and singled out key contributions. The boys’ basketball coach described a comeback victory in the county final and cited players who earned all-tournament honors; the wrestling coach detailed team depth, individual qualifiers and the program’s milestone 900th win.

Formal action: the board read and will include in the minutes two resolutions — one recognizing the boys basketball county championship and a second recognizing the wrestling team’s undefeated season and state championship.

The recognitions were followed by a five-minute recess and then the business portion of the meeting.
