Show Low mayor introduces new public works director Shane Hemsaw

Mayor John Leach Jr. introduced Shane Hemsaw as Show Low’s public works director during a Mayor Minute segment, congratulating Hemsaw and inviting him to describe his background with the city.

Hemsaw said he came to Show Low in 2007 and was hired as a staff engineer, later serving as city engineer for about 14 to 15 years. He told listeners he worked under the city’s previous public works director, Bill Cupp, who recently retired, and said the previous leadership helped shape his approach to the job. "I came to Show Low in 2007," Hemsaw said, summarizing his tenure.

Hemsaw also described his family and community ties. He said his wife is an electrical engineer and a Northern Arizona University alum, and the couple have two children, ages about 14 and 9. "We love living here. We're blessed to be in this community," he said, noting the family’s involvement in local activities and youth sports.

Mayor Leach praised the public works staff and thanked Hemsaw for stepping into the role. The segment closed with Leach offering well wishes and a short benediction.
