During the afternoon portion of the April 28 meeting commissioners delivered committee reports covering a range of county projects and interagency updates.
Commissioner Ebinger gave an update on the Diversion Authority and noted ongoing crop‑damage negotiations for a property owner; he reported on a county retreat that included discussion of artificial intelligence tools and budget pressures from unfunded mandates.
Commissioners reported activity on the HRA workgroup, diversion authority meetings, criminal justice advisory and diversion finance committees, the Prairie Lakes Solid Waste Committee, building committee items (including courthouse entrance security and roof planning), and a highway project open house for County Highways 52 and 12. Commissioner Campbell and others noted progress on rural water interest — more than 1,100 people have registered interest in the district — and discussed funding needs.
Other items included recognition events, an employee retreat, ongoing planning related to solar project proposals and public‑use commission filings, and an update that Can Do Canines is delivering a facilities dog (Edison) to the county attorney’s office.
